Thank you, Katie Haven
On Sunday, February 2nd, members of the Okanogan Democrats met to give their former Chair, Katie Haven, a rousing send off. In the four years she served, Katie revived the organization and inspired many, as we heard in numerous speeches that day. Katie had a powerful message for all of us. Here are some excerpts from her speech: “Election integrity is one of the most important things we do as Okanogan Democrats. Continuing to monitor ballot retrieval and counting is crucial to maintain our democracy." "There are 119 open elections in our county in 2025. We need to focus on finding good candidates and filling those positions with Democrats and those who share our belief and dedication to serving democracy and the people of Okanogan County. Being elected to something like a hospital board may not seem like much, but it is these smaller positions that will become very important as we are dealing with federal agencies like ICE." "There are Democrats in Okanogan County! There are Democrats in eastern Washington state. Staying visible and public about our presence is an important part of what we do. We are here and we can have a impact on how things unroll in the next four years.” Thank you, Katie. We are lucky to still have you serving as a State Committee Member representing our area. |
